November 18, 2006Zenobia, daughter of Zabaai ben Selim, a widow of Septimus Odenathus, Queen of Palmyra and the Palmyrene Empire as regent for her infant son Vaballathus. Aurelian, a Roman emperor, captured her from Persia and brought her to Rome and paraded her in his triumph bound in gold chains. Impressed by her beauty and dignity, Aurelian later freed her and granted her a villa in Tibur.
